Final day

We are very sad to leave Edinburgh, but excited to go home. In the morning we went to a show called esio trot which is a Roald Dahl story. Our plane leaves at  9.30pm so we will probably sleep on the plane.

Out and About in Edinburgh

This is Grannie and Grandad's street.  We live on the first floor and there are two more levels above us.  So three houses share the stairs plus the groundfloor house.There is a back garden that is shared by all the people in the tenement and Callum and I like to go and play in it.  Nobody in the street has a garage, parking is all on the road.  We live nice and close to the city so we walk everywhere and only sometimes catch the bus if we have done lots of walking.  I have included some photos of places we have walked to.

 

This is a view over to Arthurs Seat (also known as the lion due to its shape) and the Salisbury Craggs both of which we climbed.  The photo was taken one evening at the top of Blackford Hill which is 15mins walk from Gran and Grandads house

At the top - it was hot!!  Edinburgh has given us a great second summer.

 Dad, Grandad and I went and had a round of golf at Grandad's golf course.  I got to drive the buggy all around the golf course.  There were some good hills to drive up and I didn't lose any passengers!!!  I got to have a go at putting and teeing off on a few holes.

 

This was a guy we bumped into along the Royal Mile and he had no head!!!

While Callum and Leah were at Legoland, mum and dad went to Oban which is a fishing town on the west coast of the Scottish Highlands. It is also very popular with tourists and there are a lot of ferries that leave here to go to the islands. The weather was fantastic and the scenery and history spectacular. You can walk over to the castle at low tide.

 

Cows bathing in the sea its so hot! This is on the island of Kerrera, a 5 minute ferry ride from the mainland.

 This is Castle Gylen on the south of the island of Kerrera. In the old days a lot of castles were on islands or near sea as water transport was a reliable way of getting around and also defence was easier.

Mum and dad at the Black Mount (about an hour from Oban), nice on a sunny day but you don't want to be stuck out here in the middle of winter.

 

 

 Glencoe is on the way to Oban and was looking stunning as always. The famous massacre of the MacDonalds in 1692 took place here.

The famous mountain Buachaille Etive Mor (The Great Herdsmen of Etive) stands guard at the East entrance to Glencoe. The last time we were here (in 2010) we climbed this.

A few days ago we went to the  East Fortune air show with some friends. There were loads of planes flying around. Here are some photos of just two of the planes that we saw.

 This plane is called the typhoon it was VERY VERY VERY loud and fast.  Mum needed to cover her ears it was so noisy.

 This picture is of the wing walkers. There are ladies on top and they are standing on the wing of the plane luckily the plane wasn"t very loud or fast. They must be crazy to do that as a job! 

 This is the wing walkers doing handstands on top of the plane.

They also did different positions on top of the plane and they climbed down into the cockpit.

 

Glory, Glory to the Hibees

This is me at a football game with Dad, Aunty Shona and Grandad.

It was Hibernian (hibs) vs Malmo FF.  Unfortunately the score is too bad to write down otherwise Dad might start crying again!!!!

The stadium holds 20,000 people and it was packed.  The Hibs theme song is sung by the Proclaimers "Sunshine on Leith" so everyone was singing.

I got a scarf to wear for the match.

How high can you go?

Earlier in the week Me, Leah, Grannie and Aunty Shona went to the international climbing centre in Edinburgh.

I did an aerial assault course it was approx 100 feet above the ground.You had to go down a fly ng fox to reach the course.you had to go around logs and ropes and climb over them as well.Some of the obstacles move and it was quite hard to go from one thing to another.It was very challenging but really fun.

Leah did a normal clmbing wall, it was shaped like a tower. Luckily she had a harness on.

Millipedes, snakes & tarantulas (and some butterflys as well)

 

 

Yesterday we went to a butterfly farm here are some photos of the butterflys that we saw and other animals.

 

This butterfly is called the Owl butterfly.

This butterflys wings are almost see through.

We saw a chamelon but we didn"t see it change color.
